I am Olivia Ngozi Obi, Visual Artist and Art Teacher from St. Louis
Growing up in Art class, we never learned about artists of underrepresented groups. As an Art Teacher and Visual Artist, I want to give students a safe place to tell their own stories through visual art for a healthy way of self-expression.
Currently. painter Olivia Obi, Is a teaching artist and muralist whose work explores Black joy, healing, identity, and ancestral connection. Through vivid color, expressive figures, and floral motifs, Obi creates compositions that center Black women and women of color in moments of peace, power, and divinity. Drawing from both contemporary experiences and reimagined art-historical imagery, her work challenges limiting narratives while creating space for joy, rest, and self-reclamation. As both an artist and educator, Obi is committed to using art as a tool for representation, healing, and community connection.
